Members of the Cocoa Beach Police Department will be participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run on April 19 to raise awareness for Special Olympics. This year, the Cocoa Beach leg of the run will take place on Ocean Beach Blvd., starting at 1:30 P.M. behind the Wakulla Suites and will conclude at the Cocoa Beach Pier.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grass-roots fund raiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics. Law enforcement officers from around the country carry the Flame of Hope in honor of the Special Olympic athletes in their areas and around the world. Each year, over 5,000 officers carry the torch on a 1500-mile relay through 67 counties in Florida.
You can help support the Special Olympics Florida by buying this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run commemorative T-shirt.
If you would like to participate or obtain more information, contact Sergeant Manny Hernandez at 321-868-3307 or by email at mhernandez@cityofcocoabeach.com for T-shirt size and availability.
