Cocoa Beach Main Street Business Crime Watch Meeting

We will be holding our third Cocoa Beach Main Street Business Watch meeting

TONIGHT

Date: Monday, September 28, 2015
Time:  6:00 pm
Location: City Hall Commissioner’s Room
Topics: Safety Ideas and Tips
               Establishing Block Captains

By request of business owners, we will hold two meetings to accommodate individual business schedules.  Officer Ric Colón will give a presentation on Safety Ideas and we will discuss Block Captain Responsibilities and identify block quadrants. Please consider being a Block Captain. We will also discuss the upcoming Fireball Run parade that will be coming through downtown Cocoa Beach and its effect/opportunity on our downtown businesses.

Cocoa Beach Main Street Business Watch is a program intended to enable downtown business owners and the CB Police Department to work together to prevent crime.  At our last meeting Cocoa Beach Police Chief Arthur “Bud” Ayres and the entire CB Police Department Command Staff: Deputy Chief, Steve Patterson; Patrol Commander, Major Scott Rosenfeld, and Crime Investigation Detective, Major Wes Mullins,  were all in attendance. We learned they are a very dedicated crew with a very big job. According to the National Neighborhood Watch Institute, “Nationally, there is probably only one law enforcement officer on patrol at any one time for every 4,500 residents.” In other words, our help and cooperation is important. Participation in the Business Watch program will enable members to properly observe, recognize and report suspicious activity. Our motto is: “See something, say something”
Business owners attending our meetings have had great conversations, shared their experiences and ideas concerning crime prevention, but, best of all, had an overall positive attitude about working together to keep our downtown a safe and enjoyable place for all.

Business Watch decals will be distributed for members to display in business windows. Please plan to attend this meeting to, share your ideas and experiences as a CB downtown business owner, learn important tips about crime prevention and safety and receive a decal for your business.
