A mandatory evacuation order is in effect for the City of Cocoa Beach and other barrier islands, including Merritt Island as well as low-lying areas and mobile homes.  Lightweight objects that may become airborne such as flags, garbage cans, and lawn furniture should be secured to avoid loss or damage.  Avoid placing yard debris or trash near curbs until the storm has passed.
Residents and business owners are under a mandatory evacuation order beginning at 3:00 p.m.  It is highly recommended to leave the area prior to the arrival of tropical storm force winds.
