Welcome New City Manager Jim McKnight

The City of Cocoa Beach will have a new City Manager, Jim McKnight, beginning January 9, 2017. Jim McKnight grew up in Rockledge and holds a Bachelors Degree from Troy University and a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Southern Mississippi.  Professional affiliations include the Florida City and County Management Association, the ICMA (International City Management Association), and Civilian Military Relations Council. 
Mr. McKnight was selected to become the City Manager of Rockledge in April of 1986 and continued to serve in that position until his retirement in December of 2016.  He is the longest tenured City Manager at one city in the history of Brevard County, and among the longest serving City Managers in the State of Florida.
He currently serves as Vice Chairman of Keep Brevard Beautiful, as well as serving on the Executive Board of the Brevard Homeless Coalition.  Previously, he served as Chairman of the Brevard County District 4 Recreation and Parks Administrative Board.  In 1991 he was appointed to the Management Committee for the Indian River National Estuary Program and served in that capacity for five years.
In May of 2016, he was inducted into the Space Coast Sport Hall of Fame receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.  Later in 2016, he was also inducted into the Space Coast Public Service Hall of Fame. 
He and his wife, Christine, are active members of East Coast Christian Center.  He also has two daughters, Natalie and Nicole, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Ila.

Cocoa Beach Parks and Recreation Department is offering Holiday Camps. For children ages 5-14. The camps will offer crafts, games, sports and more!

Construction on Minutemen Streetscape has now moved to Block 4 and 5. ALL businesses are open! Please shop and dine at the following businesses: Heidelberg, Heidi’s Jazz Club, Studios of Cocoa Beach, Kathinka’s Haberdashery, Yen Yen, New Habit, Mar  Chiquita Swimwear, Beach Shack, Coconuts on the Beach, Hunker Down, Shady Characters, Fat Kahuna’s , Oceansports World, Thristy Oyster,  Minutemen Tavern,  and VFW.

 


CITY HALL CLOSED

Cocoa Beach City Hall will be closed December 23 and 26 for Christmas and January 2, 2017 for New Years.
