Job Description: DUTIES: Performs specialized radio and communications work for the City Police & Fire Departments, serving as radio dispatcher. Work includes receiving incoming calls, dispatching applicable personnel, and operating a computer terminal connected to the Florida Crime Information Center, National Crime Information Center, the National Weather Service and a variety of local, regional and/or state emergency response databases. Work also includes dispatching units or representatives from the City's Police and Fire Departments, rescue squads, Highway Patrol, wildlife services, animal control, etc.

Shifts are 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am. Work shifts are determined by seniority. Approximately 40 hours per week

REQUIREMENTS: This is a non-smoking position. As part of the application process, you must complete a Tobacco Supplement stating that you have not used any tobacco products for at least one year prior to employment with the City. You also agree not to use any tobacco products while employed with the City, both on and off duty.

Graduation from high school, or equivalent. Word and Excel skills a must, along with the ability to multi-task.

Performs collection booth duties and litter pick-up at Shepard Park. Working hours are as follows*:

Monday 3 pm - park close
Tuesday 3 pm - park close
Friday 3 pm - park close

Sunday 9 am - park close.

*Holidays are required.

Requires the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public.

Must have basic math skills including handling cash and reconciling daily deposits.

Job Description: Performs emergency response work in fire suppression, emergency rescue and medical care. Responsible for inspecting and maintaining equipment, and performing fire inspections.

This is a non smoking, no tobacco use position. Required to live in Brevard County before completing 6 month probation period. Shifts are 24 hours on 48 hours off.

REQUIREMENTS:

- CPR Certification by the American Heart Association
- Florida Drivers License; Class E

Base Salary $29,950.
