COMMENTS: (9/3/2007) We spent a week in April 2007 on the ocean in Cocoa Beach and now we are going to spend 4 months there because we loved it so much!!

COMMENTS: (8/9/2007) We were at Cocoa Beach for 3 days (7/30 thru 8/1)We saw a dolphin close enough to get a picture at and now it is our favorite place to be, can't wait to return! Also, the sting rays were pretty scarce by the time we got there however, we headed to panama city beach from there and the rays were everywhere! At first they freaked me out a little but I got over it pretty quick. Besides for my two girls (10 and 11) this was their first trip to the ocean and they didn't even blink at the rays! They told me "if we leave them alone, they'll leave us alone" they were right.

COMMENTS: (8/8/2007) I was wondering if we need any permits or anything to have a wedding on the beach. Do we need to contact anyone to let them know about it?

RESPONSE: Permits are required if you have amplified music, electricity, a tent structure with tables & chairs. If its just a small wedding group on the beach without any of the above, there is no permit needed. Will have to be conducted during daylight hours - lights on the beach are prohibited during turtle nesting season.

COMMENTS: (7/19/2007) hey guys!
I just wanted to know what gave you the idea of having a farmer's market by city hall because it is a very inventive idea. I also need to know how to "get a space" for my stand in the farmer's market. Please respond and good day to you! RESPONSE: Please contact Richard Hendry at 917-0721 to get qualifications info.

COMMENTS: (6/20/2007) What's up with the lizards? I live in Cocoa Isles, and I have noticed a few of the "large curly tailed beach lizards" in my yard! I have only encountered them near the beach in the past!! What is moving them westward??!! What kind of lizards are they? They are much bigger than our regular lizards!!!

COMMENTS: (6/14/2007) I was wondering if charcoal grills are allowed on the beach without obtaining a fire permit. EDITOR'S RESPONSE: Charcoal grills are allowed on the beach. Please be advised that proper disposal of charcoals is required. Proper disposal involved complete dousing (with water) prior to disposal in dumpsters. It is not permissable to dump spent coals on beach or to bury spent coal in sand.

COMMENTS: (6/5/2007) I love your beach-have been there a few times, but never during a shuttle launch. Where is the best vantage point to view a launch in your area. Thanks!

EDITOR'S RESPONSE: The launch can be seen from anywhere on the beach. The popular locations in Cocoa Beach are the beachside parks (Shepard Park, Fischer Park and Lori Wilson Park) where there is parking available, restrooms and easy access to the beach.

COMMENTS: (6/2/2007) I will be visiting cocoa beach in a few weeks and was wondering what laws there are regarding alcohol on the beach. I know you can't have glass bottles, but was wondering if you can drink.

EDITOR'S RESPONSE: Open alcohol is permitted on the beach - but open alcohol in public (streets, sidewalks, parks) is not permitted off the beach - $100 fine for open alcohol in public (off the beach). Glass containers not permitted on the beach ($100 fine).

COMMENTS: (5/25/2007) We have vacationed in Cocoa Beach and were very disappointed that there is not even a portion of the beach available to animal lovers. I understand one of the postings stating that most people want an animal free beach but if you only opened a small portion for pet owners I believe everyone would benefit. We travel with our pets because we enjoy it. Its a shame they are restricted from the beach.

EDITOR'S COMMENT: Last year a dog park was opened at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach. It is operational year round. While pets continue to be restricted from the beach, there is a park in our city just for dogs.
