Arts and culture are important aspects to round out a community's character. Cocoa Beach is an important part of the Brevard County cultural scene with the hosting of the annual Space Coast Art Festival in downtown Cocoa Beach over the Thanksgiving weekend. This event draws artists from all over the country to display and offer for sale many varieties of art. It is also a social gathering where locals are able to get together with present and former residents who visit the area over the weekend. Cocoa Beach is also home to the Surfside Play House where local actors perform in popular plays on a year round basis.
