| Precincts: | The City has five voting precincts: 22 - Cocoa Beach Community Church, 60 - Church of Our Saviour, 87- Riverside Presbyterian Church, 88 - Cocoa Beach Recreation Center and 197 - Cocoa Beach Recreation Center. | Cocoa Beach Districts | Congressional District 15, House District 30 (Includes City Precint 88,) House District 32 (Includes City Precincts 22, 60, 87 and 197), Senate District 26, County Commission District 2, School Board District 2, Circuit Judge District 18, Judicial District 18 (Includes Public Defender, State Attorney.) |
| Election Dates: | Elections are held every year and are staggered as follows: Seat 1, Seat 2 and 3, and Seat 4 and 5. Regularly-scheduled elections are held on the first Tuesday, after the first Monday in November. |
| Elected Officers: | Commissioners and the Mayor-Commissioner run at large. Each Commissioner is assigned a Seat number. The term of Office is three years. The Commissioners and Mayor receive a salary of $500 per month. |
| Qualifications to Run For Office: | To qualify to run for an elected office, a resident must be a registered voter of the City, must have continuously resided in the City for one year immediately prior to filing for a seat. |
| Candidate qualifying period: | Candidates are required to file paperwork with the City Clerk during the qualifying period, which begins oon the tenth week prior to the election, Noon on Monday and ending Noon, on Friday. See Calendar on Candidate Handbook page. |
| Candidate Responsibilities while running for office: |
Candidates are responsible to: - Submit completed forms and pay fees during the qualifing period to have name placed on the ballot - Submit Treasurer Reports - Abide by the State of Florida and City Election Laws - Complete the City's signs application and place signs only in allowed areas (Optional) |
| Elections, how decided: | Candidates are elected by a plurality vote. |
