Can I post
signs advertising my garage sale?
No Signs may be
placed on trees or utility poles. Temporary
signs advertising a garage or household sale, including real estate open houses for
residential property and home tours conducted by charitable service organizations,
may be displayed as follows:
1)
One on premise sign per street frontage.
2)
Two off premise signs per household sale are permitted within the City or Country
road right-of-way at street intersections. A maximum of two signs advertising
two separate sales per intersection are permitted. No more than one sign shall be
placed in a turning area. Signs maiintained at intersections shall not interfere
with vehicular visibility. Installation of more than two signs
per inersection or any sign(s) that is considered by the City Manager, or designee,
to interfere with visibility shall be cause to remove any or all signs from the
intersection in accordance with Section 6-26(b.)
3)
Household sale signs shall be a maximum of four (4) square feet in area and the top
of such signs signs shall be a maximum of three (3) feet in height. Signs
must be at least one (1) foot from the edge of the street pavement and, if located
on private property, ten (10) feet from adjacent side property lines.
4) Sign
messages shall be limited to wording consisted with the intent of this sign type,
such as but not limited to "Househld Sale," "Garage Sale," "Yard Sale," "Estate
Sale," "Open House" or similar phrase, the hours of the sale, the adress of the sale
and directional arrows.
5)
Household sale signs shall be displayed only for the period of the temporary sale
or event and only during normal daylight hours (sunrise and sunset.) No sign
shall be maintained for a period exceeding three consecutive days. Signs
shall be removed within twenty-four hours of the end of the temporaty sale or event.
6)
Must be located or installed in such a manner that would not cause damage to any underground
utility. (City Land Development Code Section 6-17(h).)
Removal
of Signs - Any unauthorized sign on City property or right-of-way
may be removed by the City without notice to the the owner. Such signs shall
be store for five days after which they may be destroyed. (City Code Section
6-26(b).)
