  Gel Candle – Double Bowl with Julie Njus, Wednesday, November 3rd 1:00 PM.
Cost: Class fee $5.00 + supplies $8.00 = $13.00. Make a scented candle that
will burn over 100 hours. This can be seashells, peppermint candies
(Christmas candle), colored marbles, tiny Christmas ornaments – anything
that is not more than ½” x 2” in size. About the volume of two cups of
inserts will work. You bring the inserts, Julie will supply the Ivy bowl,
inside glass and gel wax/scent/wick. Please sign up at the circulation desk.
Port Royal – the Sunken City, with Bob Marx, Wednesday, November 3rd at 7:00
PM. Marx is a distinguished marine archeologist who has participated in the
excavation of hundreds of underwater wreck sites throughout the world. He
will present a slide show of his excavation of this ancient city off the coast of Jamaica, which was sunk in a massive earthquake in 1692.

  People in Print Series presents Jim Adkins, author of River of Many Fishes.,
Tuesday, November 9th at 7:00 PM. This book depicts an exciting and perilous
time for America: 1850-1880. The wilderness was giving way to settlers and
trappers, while Native American Indians were being pushed away from their
home. Politics, slavery, and conflicting regional boundaries were feeding
the flames of a fire that would become the War Between the States. Adkins, a
native Floridian, will give a book talk and sign copies of his book.

  Music on a Sunday Afternoon presents Pan Sharks Steel Drum Entertainment,
Sunday, November 14th at 2:00 PM. This dynamic 4 piece group features steel
drums and performs Caribbean Calypso, Jamaican Reggae, Jimmy Buffet and
popular tunes, as well as Island favorites. Refreshments will be served.

  “Contrived Angels” made from Philodendron Calyxes – a Christmas Nature Craft with Marion Anderson and Jo Lincoln of the Cocoa Beach Family
Community Educators. Tuesday, November 16th at 7:00 PM. Cost is $1.00. Bring a towel, as the calyxes are worked with when wet.

and includes course material. Learn about shopping on E-bay, just in time

  No Sew Quilting with Julie Njus, Thursday, November 18th, 12:30 PM. Cost:
Class fee $5.00 + supplies $15.00 = $20.00.Students will make a 12” x 12”
wall hanging in class. A variety of color combinations of fabric will be available to choose from in the class. Julie will furnish all the supplies. Please sign up at the circulation desk.

T’ai Chi Ch’uan with John Lang, A.P., Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 AM beginning
September 15th. T’ai Chi uses natural movements emphasizing the legs and
waist. It is an esteemed Chinese system of self-culture with exercise emphasizing legs and posture, and meditation for mind and breath. Cost $5.00 per session; wear comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes.
WILD on Yoga with Suzanne Elliott, M.A., Ed., Mondays at 2:00 PM beginning
September 20th. This Hatha Yoga class is based on postures from our natural
environment. Cost is $5.00 per session. Bring a towel or a mat and wear
comfortable clothing.
Book Discussion Groups meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:00 AM
and 7:30 PM. Join other book lovers in reading, reviewing and critiquing  popular and classic fiction and non-fiction works. Morning Group will discuss Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, and the evening group will review Cold Case Squad by Edna Buchanan.
Playreaders Group meets every third Tuesday at 2:30 PM in the Captain’s
Room. Everyone who attends has a script and is encouraged to participate.

A Watercolor Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00-4:00 in the Captain’s Room. This is a social, non-instructive painting group which is open to
anyone with an interest in watercolors. All levels of skill are welcome. Bring your materials and paint with fellow artists. For further information, contact Angela Richards at 784-0528.
The Friday Group, a new initiative group for those who are widowed, divorced, alone, a caregiver, etc. meets Fridays at 3:00 PM in the Captain’s Room.
Cocoa Beach Writers Workshops are held Thursdays at 10:00 AM in the Captain’s Room. This round table discussion group gives authors the opportunity to have their works read and critiqued by fellow writers. Anyone interested in the craft of writing is welcome.
