  Hurricanes in Florida with “Hurricane John”, Friday, May 6th at 2:00 PM.
‘Tis almost the season…again! Learn the facts about hurricanes from John Williams, U.S. Army (retired), who runs the Hurricane Research Program at Florida Tech. An informative and exciting program and power-point presentation by the author of Florida Hurricanes and Tropical Storms 1871-1996. Williams has also flown about 12 reconnaissance missions into hurricanes.

  CITIZENS ACTION COMMITTEE MEETING WILL DISCUSS RUNAWAY GROWTH (OVERGROWTH) AT COCOA BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY The Citizens Action Committee will meet on Saturday, May 14th at 10:00 AM at
Cocoa Beach Public Library. The topic will be Runaway Growth (overgrowth) and the panel will consist of Mike Myjak of Smart Growth/Save Brevard,
Janice Scott, former mayor of Cocoa Beach and Lisette Kolar, a resident of Grant, who will discuss growth in South Brevard, The public is invited.

  HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY COCOA BEACH LIBRARY! Join us for an open house on Saturday, May 21st between 1:00 and 3:00 PM. Listen to 50’s music played by Robert Roulette on keyboard and Jay Smith on Guitar. Students from The Roosevelt Chorus, Grades 3-6 will sing some festive songs and vintage cars  will be on display. And of course, there will be birthday cake!

ONGOING:
Easy Hatha Yoga with Emily Hain, Thursdays at 2:00 PM through May 19th. A
safe, fun, non-competitive class taught by a certified Yoga instructor. Cost
is $5.00 per session. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel or
a mat.

Book Discussion Groups meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:00 AM
and 7:30 PM. Join other book lovers in reading, reviewing and critiquing popular and classic fiction and non-fiction works. On May 11th, the morning group will discuss Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, and the evening group will review The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell.

Playreaders Group meets every third Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Captain’s Room. Everyone who attends has a script and is encouraged to participate.
Newcomers are always welcome. Call Barbara Clark for details at 455-2352.

A Watercolor Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00-4:00 in the Captain’s Room. This is a social, non-instructive painting group which is open to anyone with an interest in watercolors. All levels of skill are welcome. Bring your materials and paint with fellow artists. For further information, contact Angela Richards at 784-0528.

Cocoa Beach Writers Workshops are held Thursdays at 10:00 AM in the
Captain’s Room. This round table discussion group gives authors the opportunity to have their works read and critiqued by fellow writers. Anyone interested in the craft of writing is welcome. Call Mary Burruss at 783-6997
