Music on a Sunday Afternoon kicks off Jazz Appreciation Month with Jazz vocalist Sybil Gage on Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00 PM. Being born and growing up in New Orlean’s Garden District gave her exposure and opportunity to work with musical legends such as Henry Butler,Willie Metcalf, James Booker, to name a few. She is a graduate of New York niversity and has performed with The Drifters and Terry King. Her current album, which contains many of her own ompositions, is “Busking Allowed – Sybil Sings!” | ||

Friends of the Library Annual Author luncheon will host Stuart Woods on Saturday, April 15th at the Cocoa Beach Holiday Inn at 11:30 AM. Cost is $20.00 and there is a choice of either Chicken Marsala or a Vegetarian entree. Woods has published 31 novels and has received the Edgar Allen Poe award for Mystery Writers of America, as well as France’s Prix de literature Policiere. He is best known for his Stone Barrington and Holly Barker novels. Dark Harbor, a new Stone Barrington novel will be released on April 11th and available for purchase at the luncheon. | ||
| Florida author Tim Dorsey will speak about the writing process and sign his
new book, The Big Bamboo, on Tuesday, April 5th at 2:30 PM. Dorsey is the
author of Hammerhead Ranch Motel, Florida Roadkill, Orange Crush and others. His stories, all set in Florida, are inhabited by a cast of characters who, in any other state would be behind bars! Tim Dorsey will also speak on Wednesday, April 5th at 2:30 PM. |

Local musician Chris Kahl will give a musical tribute to Florida on Sunday, April 30th at 2:00 PM as part of the library’s Music on a Sunday Afternoon series. Kahl loves Florida so much that after spending the past five years in London, he returned to the Sunshine State to release an album dedicated to his birthplace. Orange Blossom Memories chronicles much of Florida’s history, including the space program, hurricanes, Henry Flagler’s East Coast Railroad and Ponce de Leon’s discovery of the state in 1513. Refreshments will be served. | ||
