Following Columbus – Voyage of the Nina II with Robert Marx, Tuesday, October 3rd at 7:00 PM. Marx, renowned author, historian, archaeologist and treasure hunter, will show slides of his duplication of an authentic voyage of Columbus’ first voyage of exploration on the Nina II.

Edible Landscaping with Sally Scalera, Tuesday, October 3rd at 10:00 AM.
Cost is $5.00. If your dream is to only grow plants that produce food or you just want to add a few edible plants to your landscape, this class is for you.

The Presenter is Prof. John Esposito, Professor of Islamic Studies, and the discussion leader is Vern Clobes. How familiar are you with the world’s second largest and fastest growing religion? Many in the West know little about the faith and are familiar only with the actions of a minority of radical extremists.

Displays, slides, beach walks, contests and discussions will make this an interesting weekend. Beach walkers, oceanographers, scientists, botanists, surfers, jewelry makers and nature writers discuss and answer your questions about ocean treasures.

  Blood Testing and Nutrition, Wednesday, October 25th at 1:00 PM. A nutritionist will speak about the uses of blood testing and which tests are necessary for counseling patients on their eating habits. Part of the Support Healthy Living through Blood Testing series, an informational series sponsored by Wuesthoff Reference Laboratories.

  Music on a Sunday Afternoon presents Flamenco Guitarist Shawn Foster, Sunday, October 29th at 2:00 PM. Shawn’s love of Iberian music started while living in France, but was formally developed in Okinawa where he studied with a protégé of Carlos Montoya. He has toured Europe and South America, and has entertained from Saudi royalty to avid Flamenco music lovers at the Trocadero in Madrid.

  Isitsoornot? A spooky production for all ages by the Brevard Theatrical Ensemble, Monday, October 30th at 6:30 PM. Prepare to be scared! This professional, fully costumed group, loves all things spooky! Listen to tales of the macabre by Edgar Alan Poe and more. This program is put on in conjunction with the Youth Department.
Ongoing Programs  

Easy Hatha Yoga with Emily Hain, Tuesdays at 2:00pm continuing through December 5th. Cost is $5.00 per session. Bring a towel or a mat and wear comfortable clothing.

T' ai Chi Chu' an with John Lang A.P. Wednesdays at 9:00am, through November 29th. Cost is $5.00. Wear comfortable clothing and flat soled shoes.

Book Discussion Groups meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:00am and 7:30pm. The morning group has not yet determined their selection, and the evening group wil review His Excellency: George Washington, by Joseph J. Ellis.

Playreaders Group meeting every third Tuesday at 2:00pm in teh Captain's Room. Everyone who attends has a script and is encouraged to participate. Newcomers are always welcome. Call Barbara Clark for details at 455-2352.

A Watercolor Group will meet on Thursdays from 1:00-4:00pm in the Captain's Room. This is a social, non-instructive painting group which is open to anyone with an interest in watercolors. Cocoa Beach Writers Workshops are held Thursdays at 10:00am in the Captain's Room. This round table discussion group gives authors the opportunity to have their works read and critiqued by fellow writers. Anyone interested in the craft of writing is welcome.
