Right Whale Monitoring Workshop with Marine Resources Council, Saturday, January 5th at 1:00 PM. The endangered right whale utilizes the Atlantic Coast off Georgia and Florida as calving grounds. Volunteer spotters, living in high rise condos beachside report right whale sightings to track the whales' movement and behavior patterns along the Atlantic Coast in an effort to determine migration characteristics of these highly endangered marine mammals. | ||

| Pilates with Cory Higgins, Mondays 9:00-10:00 AM, January 7th through May 19th. Pilates is a series of stretching and strengthening exercises, which integrate the whole body and mind, which can result in the benefits of strengthened and toned muscles, as well as improved posture, flexibility and balance. Cory has taught Pilates for 3 years and group fitness for 5. She is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Physical Education. Cost is $5.00. Bring a mat and water bottle. Hatha Yoga for Seniors with Emily Hain, a Certified Yoga Instructor, on Tuesdays, 1:00-1:45 PM, January 8th through May 19th. No experience or special equipment is necessary; chairs will be used for support. Cost is $2.00 per class. Learn how yoga can help keep you more healthy and active. This 45 minute class is designed to warm up the body, improve your balance and maintain strength and flexibility in a relaxing and non-competitive style. People in Print presents romantic suspense writer Kay Williamson on Wednesday, January 9th at 2:00 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. She’ll be signing and selling her latest novel Murder on the Starlight Express. Kay’s work is published in various literary anthologies and magazines. Her romantic suspense novels include Ghostly Whispers, Bridge to Nowhere, Listen to the Heart as well as Time After Time. She is a published songwriter, playwright and former elementary teacher. Former students might remember her as Kay Spruill.
The Dick-Doc Duo, a musical evening, Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00 PM. Retired Homicide Detective (dick) Marshall Frank has teamed up with Retired Medical Examiner (doc) Jay Barnhart to play some popular, familiar tunes on violin and piano. A rollicking evening of fun. |
