Space Coast Crew, a high school rowing club open to all Brevard students, will hold its 11th annual Learn to Row Camp for rising 8th graders and high school students July 6 - 10 at Oars and Paddles Park in Indian Harbor Beach.  No previous rowing experience is necessary, but participants must pass a swim test. All participants will receive a crew t shirt.  Camp hours are 5:30 PM – 8 PM.  Cost for the camp is $150.  A waiver is required.  Visit spacecoastcrew.org and click on “Crew Camp” for more information and to download a waiver form.  You may also call Heather Rogers at 321-917-1856 or Margot Cronk at 321-242-9304.

The Joys of Machine Quilting

Monday, July 6, 9:30-11:30 AM. Seminar: Finish Your Quilt with your Own Machine Quilting ($5.00)

Ideas, new and old, and numerous samples highlight this trunk show of quilts which were quilted on a domestic sewing machine. Inspiration abounds for all quilters. The program is interlaced with practical hints and how-to’s and will give you a new sense of freedom and control over your quilt projects.

Note: Bring your lunch and join us as we munch between Monday’s sessions.

Monday, July 6, 1:00-4:30 PM. Hands-on Workshop: Beginning Machine Quilting from the Very Beginning ($35.00)

With just a darning foot and a spirit of adventure, enter the world of free motion quilting. There is no limit to what you can do once your inner rhythm is set to free-motion quilt on your home sewing machine, Bring the machine you intend with in the future (not Singer Featherweights) and know how to lower the feed=dogs. Sewing supplies are provided.

Advance your free motion skills by developing additional techniques. You will learn about threads and tools which enhance your work. Bring the machine you intend to use for quilting (Featherweights stay home (, and know how to lower the feed-dogs. Bring your lunch. Sewing supplies are provided.

But wait! There’s more…

Following the second class, the students may stay for an interactive session to enhance inspiration. Bring quilt tops that you would like to get others’ opinions about quilting that might be used. We will discuss options and quilting ideas, Bring finished quilts whose quilting you would like to share.

SUMMER FITNESS CLASSES:

Pilates with Cory Huggins, Mondays, 9:30 AM. Cost is $5.00, June 1st through August 24. (Except for July 6th.)

T’ai Chi Chu’an with John Lang, Wednesdays, 9:00 AM, June 3 through July 29, except for July 8th. $5.00

Easy Hatha Yoga with Emily Hain, Wednesdays, 10:30 AM, June 10 through August 19, except for July 8 and 22. $5.00.

Fridays, Fit Seniors and Baby Boomer Exercises with Marilyn Mileski, June 12 through August 7th at 2:00 PM. Cost is $3.00 per session. Stretch, walk, and lift hand weights with a great relaxation at the end.
