Compositional Photography with Mick West, Tuesdays, November 3rd and 17th from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. A two session class that will provide some basic elements of composition and framing to assist the student in capturing  interesting, dynamic, images with a digital camera. Cost is $5.00 per session. The World Skin Cancer Foundation's Slater Brother's Invitational Surf Contest is scheduled for November 6th through the 8th, also behind Coconut's on the Beach in Cocoa Beach.  Come out and watch a talented field of world-class surfers including C.J. and Damien Hobgood, Rob Machado, Shea Lopez and 9-time ASP World Champion, Kelly Slater.  The WSCF's Slater Brother's Invitational is proud to announce their newest hometown hero, world-renowned skateboarder, Adam Taylor, will be joining the mix.  Watch Adam and other skateboarding pros tear it up on the mini-vert ramp situated right on the beach.  The weekend of parties kicks-off Thursday, November 5th, at Rusty's at the Port with a street party including live music. Enjoy the contest the next morning, but be ready to have a good time Friday night when the Bon Fire party heats up at Coconut's on the Beach with the great music of national recording artist, G-Love. Saturday will be another day of world-class surfing and skateboarding, but Saturday night belongs to the Pirates Ball Costume Party and Silent Auction at Coconut's on the Beach.  All types of costumes are welcome.  On Saturday, November 7th, dermatologists will be providing FREE SKIN CANCER SCREENINGS inside of Coconuts on the Beach. Free Movies in the Park, 6:00 PM, behind City Hall. Movie: Night at the Museum-Smithsoning

The 1st Annual Art in the Park will be held this Saturday, November 7th from 10am to 5pm, Rain or Shine, at Lori Wilson Park (north entrance) in Cocoa Beach.   A great variety of artists will be on hand displaying their unique, one of a kind handmade items.... pottery, jewelry, artwork, photography, glass, candles, woodcarving & more.  There will be live music, face painting and a raffle drawing to win great prizes.  A portion of the raffle proceeds will go to Friends of Children of Brevard - supporting kids in foster care.   Please join us for a worthy cause and a park full of talented local artists.  

People in Print presents Tom Howes, co-author of best selling non-fiction book Out of Captivity: Surviving 1,967 Days in the Columbian Jungle,  Saturday, November 7th at 1:00 PM. He will speak about the amazing story of his and his co-authors’ five and a half year fight for survival as hostages of the Columbian terrorist organization known as the FARC.  Howes’ incredible story has been featured on ABC’s 20/20, Fox News’ Glenn Beck,  ABC’s Good Morning America, CBN’s 700 Club, Inside Edition, People, the Associated Press and newspapers throughout the country. Copies of his book will be on sale for $26.99. Proceeds from books purchased at the event will go to the library.

Angel Babies with Patricia Seaver McGivern, Saturday, November 7th at 2:00 PM, Jane von Thron Room. McGivern, an author, lecturer and hypnotist, specializes in helping parents to connect to their lost children in past life regression. She has established a new field of research into spirit connection with miscarried and other early lost babies. Copies of her book, Angel Babies: Messages from the Miscarried and other Lost Babies, will be on sale for $15.95.

Update on the 1000 Islands with Mike Knight, Brevard County Director of EEL, Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 PM. Last year the south Thousand Islands in Cocoa Beach were purchased for preservation by Brevard County's Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) program. Mike Knight, Director of EEL, will give a powerpoint presentation on the progress and plans of the program, including removal of non-native invasive plant species, replanting efforts, and future recreation goals.  If you've been wondering what's happening in the islands, and what will be happening over the next few years, then this program will answer your questions.

Bluegreen: We Are All Connected, a Surf Film, Thursday, November 12th  at 6:30 PM, presented by Cocoa Beach Surf Museum and the Cocoa Beach Public Library in support of the Cocoa beach Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. The power of the ocean pulls at us all, and we are inextricably linked to it. Look deeper into the BlueGreen to discover the core connection to the ocean within all of us. Friday, November 13 is the deadline for Application for the 3rd Annual Singer/Songwriter Contest to be held on Saturday, December 5th at 1:00 PM. Ten names will be drawn for the completion, which will be judged on originality, lyrics, melody, and overall performance by professional singer/songwriters. Pick up an application or download one from our website www.cocoabeachpubliclibrary.org. An amateur is considered a non-professional musician who does not perform for a fee.

The Holiday’s are approaching, money is tight and you still need a unique gift for that friend, neighbor or family member?  Here is an opportunity to find some original gifts at an affordable price, while contributing to a worthwhile cause.

The Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club, a service organization established in 1965, is hosting its annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Vendor Fair on November 21st at the Cocoa Beach Country Club (5000 Tom Warriner Blvd), indoors, from noon to 5:00 pm.  We are expecting over 20 vendors who will have a numerous gift giving items for sale.  There will be a large variety of handcrafted items and bake sale goods created by the CBWC members, as well as a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.  We will also be sponsoring a Heifer International table, at which you can “adopt” a stuffed animal, with proceeds going towards national and international projects to end world hunger.   Admission to the holiday fair is free, so bring the whole family and enjoy some holiday shopping.

The 46th Annual Space Coast Art Festival is held Thanksgiving weekend, November 28th-29th in downtown Cocoa Beach.  This festival is a juried show of fine arts and fine crafts.  There's food, drink, performing arts, student arts, kid's activities.  All of this is kicked off with a 5K run on Thanksgiving morning.  Always a fun-filled family weekend and a great opportunity to run into friends and neighbors.  http://www.spacecoastartfestival.com/

Easy Hatha Yoga with Emily Hain, Tuesdays at 2:00 PM, through November 10th. Cost is $5.00 per session. This is a safe, fun, relaxing and non-competitive class. Bring a towel or a mat and wear comfortable clothing.
T’ai Chi Chu’an with John Lang A.P., Wednesdays at 9:00 AM, through November 25th. Cost is $5.00.  Thai Chi is a unique system of moving meditation with exercise emphasizing legs and posture, and meditation of mind and breath. Wear comfortable clothing and flat soled shoes.
Multilevel Yoga with Rebecca Hirsch, Fridays, at 2:30 PM, through November 19th. Cost is $5.00. This class is for all levels, with modifications for beginners and challenges for people more seasoned. Bring a towel or mat and wear comfortable clothing.
