Celebrate Oktoberfest with the Retro Reeds Accordion Duo on Tuesday, October 6th from 6:30-7:30 PM. Celia Williams and Ed Czarniak will entertain you with an hour of Oktoberfest accordion tunes. What a jolly way to begin the month!

Helen’s Faces at the Oasis won best of show at the Central Brevard Art Association annual show in March 2007.

Health Nutrition and Weight Loss with Charlie Mora, the 2nd  Tuesday of the month, Tuesday, October 13th at 2:00 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. In simple terms, Charlie tells you – no matter what your age, economic status, gender or education level- what foods you should eat to stay young, fit and trim; how to make the connection that what we eat and do determines what we are and what we can be. The course will cover hydration/dehydration; how the body burns fat; the American diet; insulin control; food ratios; nutrition factors; supplements; exercise, duration vs. intensity. Charlie is a health and fitness consultant, health educator, personal trainer and licensed massage therapist. He has worked with the Olympic Athletic Committee in 1996, worked with orthopedic surgeons, and is owner/director of Excel Sports International.

Growing Herbs in Brevard with Horticultural Extension Agent Sally Scalera, Thursday, October 15th at 10:00 AM. Cost is $5.00. To register, call the Extension Office at 633-1702 or register online at brevard.ifas.ufl.edu. This program will cover what herbs can be grown here as well as live samples of many of them for identification. Some of their uses will also be covered.

It's that time of year for Our Saviour's Parish Fall Festival.  Join in for the fun & festivities at their 46th Annual festival this Thursday, the 15th through Sunday October 18th.  Rides, games, prizes, a huge garage sale and a chance to win $10,000 and lots and lots of food.  Our Saviours is located at 5301 N. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Curtis Ebbesmeyer, who will discuss his new book Flotsametrics and the floating world: how one man's obsession with runaway sneakers and rubber ducks revolutionized ocean science.  Pioneering oceanographer Curtis Ebbesmeyer unravels the mystery of marine currents, uncovers the astonishing story of flotsam, and changes the world's view of trash, the ocean, and our global environment by calling attention to the threats that global warming and disintegrating plastic waste pose to the seas...and to us.

Wellness Therapies for Seniors, presented by Rhonda Ford, Cocoa Beach Wellness Center, Tuesday, October 20th at 2:00 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. A Licensed Massage and Colon Therapist and Certified Colonic Instructor will give an overview of therapies; demonstrate massage trigger point therapy for pain relief, Brennan Healing Science for deep relaxation and energetic balance to improve overall health and to improve colon health and digestion without prescriptions.
