A Food Drive will be taking place at all Brevard County Libraries through September 30th. Please drop off non-perishable items in the box in the library. Items needed: proteins, soups and stews, rice and pasta, cereal and oatmeal, canned veggies, canned or dried beans and peas, canned fruits, fruit juice, prepared box mixes, shelf-stable milk. |

Health Nutrition and Weight Loss with Charlie Mora, Tuesday, September 15th at 2:00 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. Beginning of a series of classes on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. In simple terms, Charlie tells you – no matter what your age, economic status, gender or education level- what foods you should eat to stay young, fit and trim; how to make the connection that what we eat and do determines what we are and what we can be. The course will cover hydration/dehydration; how the body burns fat; the American diet; insulin control; food ratios; nutrition factors; supplements; exercise, duration vs. intensity. Charlie is a health and fitness consultant, health educator, personal trainer and licensed massage therapist. He has worked with the Olympic Athletic Committee in 1996, worked with orthopedic surgeons, and is owner/director of Excel Sports International. |

| Ongoing Programs | Ikebana with Betty Allison, Thursdays, September 10th through October 15th from 1:00-3:00 PM. Cost for the 6 week course is $40.00, which includes fresh flowers. Needle point holders will be available for $7.00, as will plastic oriental containers for $4.00. Ikebana is the art of arranging flowers and branches in a three dimensional design emphasizing beauty and simplicity. It evolved in Japan over seven centuries. | FALL FITNESS CLASSES: Pilates with Cory Huggins, Mondays at 9:00 AM, September 14 through November 30th. Cost is $5.00 per session. Pilates is a series of stretching and strengthening exercises, which integrate the whole body and mind, which can result in the benefits of strengthened and toned muscles, as well as improved posture, flexibility and balance. Bring a mat and a water bottle. Participants should be in good health. Easy Hatha Yoga with Emily Hain, Tuesdays at 2:00 PM, September 8 through November 10th. Cost is $5.00 per session. This is a safe, fun, relaxing and non-competitive class. Bring a towel or a mat and wear comfortable clothing. T’ai Chi Chu’an with John Lang A.P., Wednesdays at 9:00 AM, September 9 through November 25th. Cost is $5.00. T*ai Chi is a unique system of moving meditation with exercise emphasizing legs and posture, and meditation of mind and breath. Wear comfortable clothing and flat soled shoes. Intermediate Level Yoga with Rebecca Hirsch, Fridays, at 2:30 PM, September 11th through November 19th. Cost is $5.00. Focusing on breath, alignment, and attitude. Each pose will be offered with modifications to suit the level of experience of the participant. Bring a towel or mat and wear comfortable clothing.
