Compositional Photography with Mick West, Tuesdays, April 6, 13, 20 & 27th at 6:30 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. Cost is $5.00 per session. What is the difference between a photograph and a snapshot?   Basically, a snapshot is just point, shoot, and hope for the best.  That’s why most snapshots are similar in appearance.  A photograph requires thought, purpose, and an understanding of the interrelationships of positive and negative shapes, lines, perspective, color and contrast, to create a unique composition in the camera’s viewfinder. Prerequisites: A desire to take more interesting photographs, a digital camera and the ability to transfer digital images from a computer to a CD or thumb drive. To see Mick’s work, go to his website http:my.photoshelter.com/mickwest. Please register at sign up table.

Picaresque – a Longboard Film, Saturday April 10th 2010 presented by Cocoa Beach Surf Museum, Doors open 6:30pm movie starts at 7:00pm at Cocoa Beach Public Library. Mikey DeTemples Highs Seas Films first surfing video release, Picaresque is a 16mm visual stimuli showcasing longboarding in a new light; getting away from the preconceived notions and turning up the tempo. When in motion, longboarding is ultra fluid, yet relatively systematic. But when it’s done right, it's also utterly dynamic. With an über-talented group of 25-and-unders spells of innovation and sickening-balance led to a blending of traditional and progressive, resulting in a universal message about the sport: logging offers few limitations. Refreshments provided by Sunseed Co-Op. There is no charge for this program. The library is located at 550 N. Brevard Ave., Cocoa Beach, Fl 32931.  868-1104

Surfside Players is proud to present HAIR The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical
Surfside Players, Cocoa Beach, is proud to present its spring musical, Hair, the first rock musical, an anthem of the hippie counter-culture and one of the most controversial theatre spectacles of the 1960's.  Hair tells the story of the "tribe", a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the "Age of Aquarius" living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves and the sexual revolution with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society. Ultimately, Claude must decide whether to resist the draft as his friends have done, or to compromise his pacifistic principles and risk his life by serving in Vietnam.
Come see the show the Establishment doesn't want you to see!  Performance dates for Hair are April 23 - May 9, 2010 (three weekends), Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 p.m. and Sundays 2:00 p.m.  An Opening Night Reception with hors d'oeuvres will be held on Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and active military, $10 for students, with group discounts available.  Contact our Box Office at (321) 783-3127 for reservations and more info.
