Compositional Photography with Mick West, Tuesdays, August 3, 10, 17 & 24th at 6:30 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. Cost is $5.00 per session. A four session class that will provide basic compositional elements and framing to assist the student in capturing interesting, dynamic images with a digital camera. What is the difference between a photograph and a snapshot? Basically, a snapshot is just point, shoot, and hope for the best. That’s why most snapshots are similar in appearance. A photograph requires thought, purpose, and an understanding of the interrelationships of positive and negative shapes, lines, perspective, color and contrast, to create a unique composition in the camera’s viewfinder. Prerequisites: A desire to take more interesting photographs, a digital camera and the ability to transfer digital images from a computer to a CD or thumb drive. To see Mick’s work, go to his website http:my.photoshelter.com/mickwest. Please register at sign up table. | ||

This 90 minute 2009 Emmy Award Winner for Best Writing by Alan Cooke, was also nominated for Best Documentary & Best Photography. David Amram, Armand DiMele, Pete Hamill, Elaine Kaufman, Fran Lebowitz, Frank and Malachy McCourt, Alfred Molina, Mike Myers, Liam Neeson, Drew Nieporent, Rosie Perez, Colin Quinn, and Susan Sarandon all share their great love for the city they call home.
