Postural Therapy with Robin Brandimore, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, Tuesday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM in the Jane von Thron Room. Our design is perfect...our society is not.  We sit for long periods of time at our job or in our car.  Even those of us who stay active don't do so in a way that keeps our body functioning correctly. When our body stops functioning correctly, we can end up with: Joint pain, Chronic fatigue, Headaches,  Sluggish metabolism. Every system can be affected - digestion, respiratory, immune, lymphatic...The good news is that our body has the ability to heal itself when the alignment is correct. Brandimore is an Egoscue Certified Postural Alignment Specialist. The Egoscue Method of postural therapy was created by Pete Egoscue and is used in over 20 Egoscue clinics around the world.  This therapy utilizes "Egoscue-exercises" or E-cises in a sequence or "menu" designed to treat the body as a unit to restore function.

86th Annual Cocoa Beach Community Festival celebrating our little town by the sea.  It's slated for May 7th and it's the same day as the 50th Anniversary of Apollo Astronaut Parade!  We love our Astronaut parades - corvettes and all.
COCOA BEACH 86th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON SATURDAY,
MAY 7th BEGINS WITH AN "ASTRONAUT PARADE"
(PARADE ROUTE IS THE SAME ROUTE AS CITY'S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE FROM GLASS BANK DOWN ORLANDO AVENUE TO 1st STREET SOUTH AND RETURN TO GLASS BANK ALONG BREVARD AVENUE)
The Astronaut Parade starts at 9:34am (to coincide with the exact time America's 1st astronaut in space ~ Alan B. Shepard ~ was launched aboard the Freedom 7 space capsule).  At least 15 of the nation's former and current astronauts (along with local dignitaries) will be riding in Corvettes to commemorate 50 years of human space flight. After the parade, an on-stage "opening ceremony" will begin at 11:00am at the corner of Minutemen Causeway and Brevard Avenue to officially start the City's 86th Anniversary Celebration/Party.  Local artists, food venders, live band entertainment, Corvette displays and games for the entire family will be the center of attraction adjacent to Cocoa Beach City Hall.  Portions of Minutemen Causeway and Brevard Avenue will be blocked to local vehicular traffic throughout the day and evening hours.

This festival is designed to provide a performance opportunity in a supportive steel drum venue. Ensembles will perform for professional performers and steel drum educators. All ensembles will receive positive feedback on their performance. They will receive an on stage workshop with a clinician following their performance.  Steel drum fellowship and Caribbean food will also enhance this long awaited celebration of steel drums in the state of Florida!  Events are scheduled for 10am to 4pm, culminating with a special guest performance. Spread the word!

This is an event for all pan enthusiasts, to advance steel bands within the schools by providing a positive performance outlet for students, and to create an event that allows educators to share music, techniques, curriculum ideas, etc.  This year's festival will be for all steel bands, K-12 with ensemble adjudication.  Each band will receive immediate feedback on stage with their ensemble with hands on workshop.

The events will be held on Saturday, May 7th in the beautiful resort community of Cocoa Beach, Florida -- at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School - within the new 13 million dollar performing arts center. This is an amazing facility and a great place to showcase our students.
