Staying Calm through the Storms of Life: A Workshop on Stress Reduction through Challenging Times, taught by Solana Tara, Thursday, September 8th at 10:30 AM. How does one live in these challenging times and not be caught up in the mind and its worries, fears, hurts and problems? Ancient philosophies show is there is a potential of all human beings to connect with a peace that resides within them. This connection is like a boat anchored in a harbor that keeps it from being blown away in a storm. This class will give you an experiential knowing of that peace and a way to connect with it when you choose. It will also be an introduction to a four week class to practice deep relaxation techniques of self empowerment. Participants will have a chance to lie down on the floor or sit for relaxation practices. Bring a mat or a towel if you wish to lie on the floor. Bring a sweater in case the room is cool. Solana Tara has an M.A. in Philosophy and Religion, has taught and studied in the field of yoga, self-actualization and philosophy for over 30 years. Her website is www.momentofawakening.com |

Five Summer Stories – A Classic Surf Film, Saturday, September 24th at 7:00 PM. Heralded as “the finest surf movie ever made”, 5 Summer stories is a cultural icon, a time capsule from a vanished era when the world was at critical crossroads and its reflection is clear in the emerging art/sport of surfing. Against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the Nixon years, Five Summer Stories was the culmination of the joint surf-film careers of Jim Freeman and Greg MacGillivray. The film portrays a young outlaw sport at a strategic point in its creative evolution. For the surfing aficionado, this film is an incredible barrage of audio visual stimulus. Sponsored by the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum. Refreshments will be served. | |
